Summer Updates
Howdy!
This is gonna be a yooge one, so grab a seat. New venues, new schedules, new social media plan, and-- FOUR new job positions. If you love the markets and would like to work with Berenice, Maritere, and myself, please read on!
Firstly, we are THRILLED to announce that Houston Plant Market will now be the official plant market of Houston! The City of Houston has reached out after attending some of our markets to say they think we'd be a fantastic match to host markets at several of their parks. Our expansion out of the Heights starts with a Grand Opening for Trebly Park in Downtown Houston on Saturday. July 9th from 12p - 4p. (More on that later.)
In addition to this, Holman Draft Hall is bringing Houston Plant Market to Midtown! This project is in the works, but you can expect it to take place the Second Sunday of June and will pivot to Third Sundays from July onwards.
Lastly, due to conflicts with the neighboring church, our market at A 2nd Cup will now take place on Third Saturdays.
Our new schedule will look something like this:

So-- with all these new venues... what the heck happens with our three social media accounts for HOU and Friends, Houston Plant Market, and HOU Grew It? Combine them!
As we become Houston's official plant market host, we think it's well suited that all our events be consolidated under the Houston Plant Market brand. HOU and Friends and HOU Grew It will be discontinued. This change will go into effect after April 24th's market at New Magnolia. All future content will be shared under what is now @hougrewit as we wish to retain the 2000+ followers we've organically amassed. @houstonplantmarket with 900 followers will switch names with the HGI account and become a backup for possible future use.
We'll also be switching to a new gmail account, so please add houstonplantmarket@gmail.com to your contacts list to ensure you receive all future emails!
Phew. So about our partnership with the City of Houston's Downtown Management District...
Both Trebly Park and a brand new Tout Suite are currently under construction, and the TS will be located inside the park itself. Attached is a rendering of the park to be completed by the grand opening date. A section of Fannin street will be shut down for our market with security and HPD staffed on-site. The July 9th grand opening will be a carnival style event during the day. After this, we plan to switch to night markets for the remainder of summer.
This market will have white tents already assembled and anchored for vendors with lighting installed in each tent and an option for electrical connection. We really can't wait to see what becomes of this as the city wants to see our vendor family grow and thrive.
All of our growth is thanks to YOU, the vendors. Without vendors, there is no market. We hope our growth brings wonderful new opportunities for you and your businesses.
