There are many issues that can be resolved with proper potting media. You should be able to water it deeply without concerns of root rot due to prolonged dry times. You should also be able to run a constant stream of water through it without it overflowing over the top (important for flushing).
You bring a plant and I'll be providing a clear, slotted pot that we repot your plant into. This is critical when switching media so you can visually monitor how quickly your new media is drying which builds your confidence over time. We'll mix up two gallons of media which you get to take home in a provided plastic bin. We'll talk in depth about my scientific reasoning for mixing the four included ingredients (two kinds of bark, sphagnum peat moss, and pumice) as well as alternatives and why I don't use them, i.e. coco coir (poorer nutrient retention, pH, and microbial life) or perlite (floats, discolors, no weight for anchoring plants).
